A child named Taqwa Sumaiya Noor (8) was killed by a battery-operated auto-rickshaw in front of Rayerbagh shrine lane in Kadmatli of the capital.

When he was brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a stupor, the doctor in charge declared the child dead around 8:30 pm.

Shishu Sumaiya’s house is in Pathantuli New Ailpara Mahalla of Siddhirganj Police Station of Narayanganj District. His father’s name is Noor Alam Khan mother Kanta Begum. Taqwa studied in the second class of a local school.

Tanjila Akhtar, the mother of the dead child, said, “My niece Sumaiya came to visit our house this morning. This evening, while going for a walk with his grandmother Morjina Begum, Taqwa asked Nani to eat a lollipop, and while walking on the road holding Nani’s hand, he was hit by a battery operated auto rickshaw at a reckless speed. Sumaiya was seriously injured. Later we quickly brought him to Dhaka Medical, the doctor declared him dead.

Inspector in charge of DMK Police Camp Mohammad Farooq said,The body has been kept in the mortuary of DMK Hospital. The matter has been reported to the concerned police station. However, local people seized the auto rickshaw with the killer driver.
