Trump calls on Rubio’s visit to Delhi: ‘India will get what it wants’ — What is the understanding on the Bangladesh issue?

President Donald Trump’s impromptu phone call amid Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Delhi has become the focus of discussion. “Whatever India wants, they will get. I am a big fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Trump said at an event celebrating the 250th anniversary of US independence. This comment marks a new high in India-US relations. Khabar BapsNews.

What did India want?
According to various reliable sources including NDTV, Times of India and Hindustan Times, India’s main priorities are: reducing trade tariffs, increasing defense cooperation, strengthening the Quad alliance, strategic support against China and maintaining its influence in South Asia. India has stood for continued Russian oil imports and wants progress on technology transfer and defense deals.

Understanding on Bangladesh issue
Geopolitical analysts believe that India discussed the security of minority communities in Bangladesh, political stability and the influence of Islamist groups as the country has long expressed concern over these issues. Diplomatic sources said that the Bangladesh issue was discussed in detail in the Rubio-Jaishankar meeting.

Bilateral relations have taken a new turn since the BNP-led government came to power in the elections held in February 2026. India wants the US to continue to push for minority protection and border management and to contribute to regional stability. Trump’s ‘get what you want’ comment is seen by many as an indication of US support for India’s regional policy.

However, the United States does not want to completely sever commercial and strategic ties with Bangladesh. The result is supposed to be a realistic understanding — Washington will protect its own interests (China deterrence and trade) by assuring India.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Marco Rubio held fruitful discussions on trade, defence, energy and regional security. Trump’s phone call further warmed the relationship.

Analysts believeThis event will further strengthen India’s strategic position in South Asia.Especially in the current political context of Bangladesh. The final outcome will depend on the upcoming high-level meetings.
