The driver Sabuj died due to negligence and gross negligence of Batara police

Mahiuddin Talukdar.

Bhatara Thana Police set a terrible example of irresponsibility and indifference of the administration. The driver Sabuj (38) had to pay the price for the non-cooperation of the police and the legal joke of the police station. He had to die brutally at the hands of the gang of ransom collectors. Due to this bad mentality and dereliction of duty of the police, an innocent family is forever lost today.

Farzana Akhtar, the wife of the deceased Sabuj, complained that Sabuj was not found after he left the Dhaka Metro-G-28-1668 car at around 10 pm on May 30. Immediately after the incident, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Tk 5 lakh from him. The victim’s family approached the Bhatara police station on May 31 with a desperate demand for rescue. Despite the fact that the charge sheet clearly mentions kidnapping and ransom, the police arbitrarily send off the family with just a GD or charge sheet without taking up a case or FIR. According to jurists, according to Section 4(1)(f) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, kidnapping is a ‘cognizable offence’. As per the law, on receipt of a complaint, the police are bound to register a case and start an investigation without the permission of the court. But the negligence shown by the Bhatara police by ignoring this section of the Act is not only unprofessional, but gross inhumanity. The minimal action of the police at that time might have brought back Sabuj from the face of death. At one stage of negligence and procrastination of Bhatara police station, the DMP commissioner’s office intervened and later filed a case with Dakshikhan police station, but by then it was too late. Criminals get enough time to commit crimes and move to safe havens. Finally, the frozen body of Sabuj was recovered from the side of Pillar No. 181 in Rajabari area of Turag river. Post-mortem and circumstantial evidence suggest that the body was dumped in the river to conceal the facts after the murder. Currently, the grieving family is seeking justice for this gross negligence of the police. Farzana Akhtar, the wife of the deceased Sabuj broke down in tears and said, “If the police had taken quick action on the case that day, maybe my husband would have been alive today.”
If the keeper plays the role of the eater,But where will ordinary people go?Conscious Mahal demanded an exemplary punishment against the officers in charge of Bhatara police station at that time along with a departmental inquiry.
