Betel nut farmers protest rally in Barisal.

In front of Ashwini Kumar Town Hall in Barisal city, a protest rally was held on the initiative of Barisal district branch of Bangladesh Pan Chashi Samiti with 11 points. The said program was led by Nimai Mondal, Deputy General Secretary, Bangladesh Pan Chashi Samiti, Central Committee. Among others present were Vice-Principal Harun-or-Rashid, Member, National Farmers Farmers Samity, Central Committee; Professor Md.Jalilur Rahman, President, National Farmers’ Labor Association, Barisal District Committee and others.
Among the claims
Export of betel nut should be increased and all the restrictions imposed in this regard should be removed immediately.
Only farmers dependent on betel nut cultivation should be brought under the relief.
Incentives should be given to betel exporters as well as betel growers.
At the end of the said protest rally, the leadersIt is said that the Deputy Commissioner also issued a memorandum.
