BGB’s successful raid on border of Chittagong region: Tk 19 crore worth of smuggled goods seized
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is tirelessly performing its duties for security, suppression of smuggling and maintaining peace and order along the 540 km border of Chittagong region. 13 battalions under the region are conducting day and night operations, surveillance and patrolling in remote border areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Khaled Ibn Hossain gave this information at a press conference organized at Jamini Para Border Guard Bangladesh 23 BGB Battalion headquarters in Khagrachari on Thursday (October 23).

He said, in the ongoing operation of BGB, a large amount of illegal goods and weapons have been recoveredhas been The goods recovered include—
9 firearms and 35 rounds of ammunition, 1,000 bottles of foreign liquor, 330 kg of ganja, 840 pieces of yaba tablets and 445 cows, buffaloes and goats.
Besides, mobile phones, foreign cigarettes, clothes and fireworks were also seized.

Lt. Col. Khaled Ibn Hossain said, “BGB’s patrols and surveillance have been strengthened in the border areas. Especially in the hilly areas, BGB has been deployed to prevent arms and drug smuggling.”Members are always active.”

He further said, “Besides smuggling and border crimes, BGB is ready to counter any attempt to destroy communal harmony in Chittagong Hill Tracts. Border security is not only a matter of security; it is part of national interest. Therefore, we are working to preserve harmony in coordination with the local people.”
