Accused of murder and check fraud case in Chittagong district NCP committee

Syed Mohammad Imran, the main accused in the charge sheet of the Chittagong murder case, has been given the post of Joint Coordinator of Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) Chittagong South District Coordination Committee. The plaintiff of the case has expressed fear about justice in this incident. Extensive discussion-criticism has started in the local political circles.

National on 31 October afternoonThe 37-member Chittagong South District Coordinating Committee was approved by the signatures of Nagarik Party member secretary Akhtar Hossain and southern chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah. Imran Hossain got the responsibility of joint coordinator in that committee.

It is known that Imran is the main accused in the Zafar murder case discussed by Karnaphuli police station and is also accused in several check fraud cases. The police arrested him from Khulshi area on the night of October 13.Later he was released on bail.

According to the family sources of the deceased Zafar, on August 24, 2017, Zafar Ahmad was hacked to death in front of Goalpara Fakir Mosque in Charlakshya Union of Karnaphuli. Fatema Begum, the wife of the deceased in that incident filed a case naming six people including Imran as the main accused. Another six-seven persons were made anonymous accused.

Apart from this, Chittagong Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court and Sessions Judge’s CourtSeveral check fraud cases are pending against Imran. He is the son of Rezaul Karim of Goalpara village of ward number 6 of Charlakshya union of Karnaphuli upazila.

Mohammad Abshar, the son of the deceased Zafar, said, “The main accused in the charge sheet of my father’s murder has come to an important position in the district committee of the NCP. We are afraid of this. In such a situation, we fear that the trial of the case may flow in a different sector.”

Denial of chargesNCP leader Syed Mohammad Imran said, “I am a victim of a completely false case. I was framed politically during the Awami League. I was not even present in the area in that incident. I and my family were harassed due to the conspiracy of the Awami League.”

Riduan Hriday, member of Chittagong Metropolitan Coordinating Committee of NCP and Chief Coordinator of Media Cell, said, “Imran is being discussed now, but before the committee is announced, this is the matter.We didn’t know anything. The case belongs to the Awami League. Initial investigations suggest that he may have been the victim of a conspiracy. However, we will hold a press conference to explain the matter.”
