Nephew killed by uncle due to land dispute

Two nephews were killed by their uncle due to a land dispute in Raipura, Narsingdi. The tragic incident took place on Saturday (November 1) at noon in Charsubuddhi village of the upazila.

The deceased are two sons of Charsubuddhi village Abu Taher — Fura Mia (40) and Shakeel Mia (30). Raipura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Adil Mahmood confirmed the matter.

The families of the deceasedAccording to sources, there was tension between the two parties since morning over the land. Around 12 noon accused Awal, his sons Shipon, Ripon, daughters Shahana, Ajina, Achma, Sumaiya and 10-12 others attacked Fura Miad’s house with sticks. When Fura Mia and her brother Shakeel intervened, the assailants launched a surprise attack on them. Four people including Fura Mia and Shakeel were seriously injured by sharp weapons.

Locals quickly injuredAfter being rescued and taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, the doctor on duty declared Fura Mia and Shakeel dead. Among the injured, a woman named Monira Begum is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Resident Medical Officer of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital Dr. Farida Gulshan Ara said that the injured were brought to the hospital around 1:15. Fura Mia and Shakeel died before being taken to the hospital. The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem.

Raipura police station OCAdil Mahmud said, “On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Operations are underway to arrest the accused.”
