New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s transition committee raised $517,947 in just 30 hours—a rare fundraising event in the city’s political history.

According to committee data, a total of 7,28 donors have donated to the fund, with an average donation of just $73. The number of participants also surpassed the combined number of first-round donors of the two previous mayors—Eric Adams (884 people) and Bill Blasio (820 people)While this fundraising pace is unprecedented, Mamdani’s efforts are particularly noteworthy as they rely on small amounts of public donations. His transition’s average donation is $73, far less than Adams’ $1,219 and de Blasio’s $2,392.

“I am grateful to the thousands of hardworking New Yorkers who have contributed to our transition efforts,” said Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani. Their support will help us start from the ground up, so that we can implement the ‘Affordability Agenda’ that we have been fighting for since day one.
