2 Awami League leaders arrested in Durgapur

The District Detective (DB) Police arrested two top leaders of the Upazila Awami League along with the general secretary of Durgapur Upazila Awami League of Rajshahi. The relatives of the arrested leaders said that they were arrested from the court premises in Rajshahi. The arrested are Durgapur Upazila Awami League general secretary and former principal of Daokandi Government College, Mozzamel Haque (59) andUpazila Awami League Education and Research Affairs Secretary and assistant professor of the same college, Abdul Matin (57). According to the police, a man named Shahadat Hossain of Chak Jaykrishnapur area filed a case at the police station last year on charges of attempted murder and sabotage by causing an explosion. After obtaining preliminary evidence of the involvement of Mozzamel Haque and Abdul Matin in the investigation of the case, the District Detective (DB) police arrested them.When presented, the learned court rejected the bail application of the two and ordered them to be sent to prison. The notable defendants in this case are former MP of Rajshahi-5 constituency and former State Minister of Rural Development and Cooperative Department Abdul Wadud Dara, former MP Professor Dr. Mansur Rahman, former Chairman of Upazila Parishad Abdul Majid, former Chairman of Upazila Parishad Vir Muktijodha Nazrul Islam, former Chairman of Upazila ParishadChairman Sharifuzzaman Sharif and former mayor of the municipality Sajedur Rahman Mithu and others.
