The blood debt of the martyrs of 71 and 24 must be paid: Tariq Rahman

Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman called for patience to face the hegemonic conspiracy, to pay the blood debt of the martyrs of 1971 and 2024. He said that the hegemonic powers and their domestic allies are engaged in various conspiracies. In this situation, everyone should be patient and come forward to protect democracy and sovereignty.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the public reception organized by BNP on the Purbachal-adjacent 300 feet road of the capital on Thursday (December 25) afternoon.
Returning to the soil of the country after 17 years and expressing his feelings, Tariq Rahman said,
“First of all, I am giving millions of thanks to Rabbul Alamin. It is by His infinite mercy that I am able to return to my beloved motherland and be present among you.”
At the beginning of his speech, he remembered the martyrs of the great liberation war of 1971 with deep respect. Then he highlighted the 1975 sepoy-janata revolution and the 1990 mass coup.
Tariq Rahman said,
“On August 5, 2024, as in 1971, the students, farmers, workers, men and women, madrasa students of this country have played a united role in protecting freedom and sovereignty.”
Highlighting the expectations of the people of the country, he said,
“The people of Bangladesh want their right to speak back. They want fair rights based on merit. Today is our time—to build the country together.”
Referring to the historic speech of world leader Martin Luther King, he said,
“Martin Luther King said ‘I have a dream’. And I want to say to the countrymen – ‘I have a plan for my country, for my people’.”
Criticizing the regime of Awami League, Tariq Rahman said,
“In the past 15 years, not only political leaders and activists, but common people have also been victims of disappearances, murders and torture. The memory of this misrule will never be forgotten by the nation.”
Referring to the martyrs in the recent movement, he said,
“Osman Hadi, representative of the brave generation of the July Movement, has been martyred. He wanted to establish the democratic and economic rights of the people of this country. His blood cannot be wasted.”
At the end of the speech, Tariq Rahman appealed to the countrymen and said,”The sacrifices of the martyrs of 71 and 24 show us the way. With patience, unity and courage a safe,A democratic and sovereign Bangladesh should be built.”
