Three days of national mourning for the death of Khaleda Zia, Wednesday is a general holiday across the country.

The government has declared three days of state mourning from Wednesday to Friday (December 31, January 1 and 2) over the death of BNP Chairperson and three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Apart from this, Wednesday (December 31) will be a general holiday across the country.
Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid confirmed this information while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Tuesday (December 30). He said that during the national mourning, the national flag will be at half-mast in all the government, semi-government, autonomous institutions and educational institutions of the country and special prayers will be held for the soul of the late leader.
Earlier, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the capital’s Evercare Hospital at 6 am on Tuesday. He was 80 years old at the time of his death. He was suffering from various complex diseases for a long time.
Khaleda Zia’s death has expressed deep grief, the interim government’s chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. In a condolence message he said,
“The nation has lost a great guardian in the death of Begum Khaleda Zia. Her contribution to the democratic politics of the country will be remembered in history. I am deeply saddened and saddened by her death.”
