Situation in Iran ‘fully under control’ after protests: Aragachi

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed that the ongoing unrest and protests across Iran are now under “complete control”. On Monday, January 12, 2026, he made this claim in a meeting with foreign diplomats appointed in Tehran.
In the meeting, Aragchi said that the level of violence increased due to the protests last weekend, but currently the law and order situation in the country has returned to normal. He alleged that the ongoing protests across the country were being deliberately “bloody and violent” so that US President Donald Trump would find a “pretext” for military intervention in Iran.

Abbas Aragchi said, “We are ready for war, but we have also left the path of dialogue open.” Especially embassies and government ministries will be restored quickly.

In a post on social media, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei compared Donald Trump to “arrogant dictators” in history, without mentioning his name. Khamenei wrote, “He who sits arrogantly and judges the whole world, know—when arrogant rulers like Pharaoh, Nimrod and Reza Shah were at the height of power,That’s when they fell. His (Trump) fall is also inevitable.
