Jamaat’s candidate is condemned for encouraging him by smearing oil on bamboo in order to win
Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Chuadanga-2 (Damurhuda Jeevannagar and part of Sadar) on the charge of violating the code of conduct by making provocative statements. The Election Inquiry and Judicial Committee issued a show cause notice (show cause) to Ruhul Amin. This notice was issued by Judge Nasir Hussain of Jeevannagar Civil Judge Court, the head of the election inquiry and judicial committee of this constituency. In the notice, the candidate has been ordered to appear at the office of the judicial committee at 10:30 am on January 19 and give a written statement or explanation. It has been reported from several related sources that Jamaat’s candidate Md. Ruhul Amin addressed the party workshop at Karpasdanga of Damurhuda Upazila on January 12. BNP candidate Mahmud Hasan Khan’s chief election agent MA Sabur filed a written complaint with Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Mohammad Kamal Hossain on the same day claiming that his speech was provocative and against election conduct rules. Based on that complaint, a letter was sent from the Deputy Commissioner’s office to the Election Investigation and Judicial Committee. It is mentioned in that letter, Md. Addressing Jamaat-e-Islami’s election workshop, Ruhul Amin Karpasdanga instructed the public before voting to store and use bamboo oil to win the election, which is against the electoral code of conduct. Already this statement of the workshop has been visible everywhere through various social media and newspapers. Along with the letter, the video of the speech was sent on a pen drive and the Election Inquiry and Judicial Committee was requested to take necessary action in this regard.
A show-cause notice signed by Civil Judge Nasir Hussain then said that video review has prima facie found the allegations to be true. A review of the complaint and video shows that Ruhul Amin mentioned that there will be a fight on the 12th in which those who go to die will win. And in this fight those who will live will lose. In addition, Md.Ruhul Amin encouraged workers to use bamboo sticks. Such provocative statements have created fear in the minds of the public during the elections. Besides, such statements encourage violence in elections and destroy a fair election environment. As this statement is spreading on social media, fear is spreading in the public mind. By such activities Ruhul Amin has caused illegitimate influence in the election and violated the Election Code of Conduct which is a clear violation of Rule 15 and 16 of the Rules of Conduct of Political Parties and Candidates 2025.
In such a situation, about the complaint. On January 19, at 10:30 a.m., he was instructed to appear at the office of the committee to give an explanation as to why a report with recommendations will not be made against Ruhul Amin. Jamaat’s candidate Md. Ruhul Amin said on the phone on Thursday afternoon,On January 12, the main statement was that we will not steal votes, we will not allow anyone to steal votes. We won’t become MPs by voting during the day and won’t allow anyone to vote at night. So we will resist those who come to steal votes in elections. You will not be empty-handed to resist, you will cut the bamboo stick and keep it. If necessary, someone comes to steal votes, then along with the administration, you also have to play a strong role. That is why this statement is made. This statement is not meant to motivate our employees. This is not to scare anyone. The speech is not meant to violate the code of conduct. Basically we have a plan to choose a fair and beautiful one
