
In Chuadanga, youths were tortured by cutting their hair and wearing shoelaces and tying them to trees
In Darshan of Chuadanga, a housewife and a young man were publicly cut off their hair, tied to a tree with shoe necklaces and physically and mentally tortured. This incident happened on Wednesday (January 14) evening. Later, the related video spread on social media. The accused are residents of Nehalpur Union. According to local sources, they were first arrested by a section of the area after complaining of anti-social activities. Later, the hair is cut and a shoe necklace is tied around the neck and tied to a tree. They were also subjected to physical torture. On receiving information, Darshana police reached the spot and rescued the victims and took them into custody.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Darshana Police Station Mehdi Hasan said no person or group has the right to take the law into their own hands. Crimes will be prosecuted through the prevailing laws and courts of the country. Police are working on this.
In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Ubaidur Rahman Sahel said,Beating or humiliating someone with the intention of socially degrading them is a punishable offence. Victims can take legal action if they want
