
Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) recovered pistol (short gun) and knife along with the accused in a special anti-arms operation.
1. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) under Ramu Sector of Cox’s Bazar Region has been performing duty as an ever-vigilant and vigilant border guard on Bangladesh-Myanmar border in southern part of Bangladesh. In addition to border security, the Ukhia Battalion has earned wide acclaim in the civilian sphere for its professionalism and efficiency in countering smuggling, drug trafficking, illegal infiltration and inter-state border crimes.
2. Recently, patrolling and surveillance activities have been intensified in the areas under the jurisdiction of Jimbangkhali BOP after receiving secret information about arms smuggling in the area under the responsibility of Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB). In continuation of this, today 12 January 2026 at approximately 1230 hours, a special operation was conducted under the leadership of Naik Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, No. 73458 of Jimbangkhali BOP, based on the secret information in the direction and planning of the captain.
In the said operation, Mohammad Rafiq (37), Father – Deceased Sirajul Islam, Village – Godar Bill, from a place called Jimbangkhali Para (GR-313312, MS 84 C/4) inside Bangladesh, approximately 3.5 km west of BRM-16 of Jimbangkhali BOP and approximately 1.5 km west-south of BOP. 01 pistol (short gun) and 01 knife were seized from Post Office – Nayapara, Police Station – Teknaf, District – Cox’s Bazar.
The process of handing over the detained person to Teknaf Model Police Station for legal action is in process. Besides, intelligence activities of the Ukhia Battalion are ongoing to identify other criminals involved in this incident and bring them to justice.
3. The recovered pistol (short gun) and knife have been deposited at Teknaf Model Police Station as evidence and the case against the accused is currently underway.
