Bad news is flowing one after another about US immigration. The introduction of bonds, the tightening of travel visas and the suspension of immigrant visas have left the sky open for many. In spite of all the bad news, the good news that can come anytime is that the re-evaluation of the US State Department is nearing completion. Upon completion of this work, the immigrant visa suspension may be lifted. However, it is known from several sources that some difficult conditions are being added in the case of this visa. news ibn news
The State Department has suspended the immigrant visas of 75 countries including Bangladesh. It came into effect from 21 January 2026. According to a recent report by a US media, the issue of suspension of immigrant visas is being re-evaluated. In this case, quoting an official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the media says – after this work is completed, the next decision may come. This means that this suspension can be revoked or changed at any time.
Earlier, the State Department said that additional scrutiny and policy review is underway on certain aspects of the immigrant visa process. Pending the completion of this re-evaluation, the issue of permanent resident visas (green cards) for the respective countries will be temporarily suspended. As a result of this decision, various categories of immigrant visa applicants, including family-based immigration, employment-based immigration, are directly affected. However, tourist visas, student visas and other non-immigrant visa processes continue as usual.
The State Department has not yet announced a timeline for the completion of the reassessment. However, concerned parties feel that once the review is completed, the visa process can be restarted in a step-by-step manner based on country-based risk assessment. Any new decision or change regarding the policy reassessment will be communicated through their official website and through diplomatic channels.
According to several sources,U.S. citizens may be granted substantial exemptions for immigrant visas. Citizens in particular will get relaxation in bringing their spouses and children. But strict conditions may be imposed on citizens bringing parents and siblings. Applicants may be required to provide assurances that they will not take advantage of public charges upon arrival in the United States. Taking advantage of the public charge could come with conditions that could delay or even disqualify them from acquiring citizenship, a source said.
When asked about this, Attorney Moin Chowdhury, director of the International Bar Association in the United States, told Adresha that even though the immigrant visa has been suspended, the visa process is going on as before. Those who had a visa interview date, gave the interview on time. No visa was refused to anyone. He said that the US Embassy has deposited the passports of many. Many passports have been returned. However, the embassy is not issuing any visa. If the decision is revoked, they will be called and issued a visa.
Attorney Moin said that since the process of immigrant visa is going on, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and nothing has happened yet. An immigrant visa suspension may be revoked at any time.
Meanwhile, big bad news could be coming for those who enter the US illegally by land without a visa. Many sarcastically call it the ‘Tarzan’ visa. That is, those who enter the United States illegally will be deported immediately if they are arrested, the decision may be effective soon. The Homeland Security Department of the United States is soon going to implement strict guidelines to prevent even illegal arrivals from getting asylum in the United States.
In this context, Attorney Moin Chowdhury said that the US border is now the most secure. No one should ever enter the United States illegally. There is a danger of great loss to them. One- they spend huge money and fall into the clutches of brokers, two- coming this way is risky for life. three-Deportation if arrested after coming to the United States at great cost and risk of life. Maybe jail-fine too.

There is an uproar in this incident all over the United States. And for this reason, the Trump administration has taken the initiative to relax the public campaign of Ice. However, illegal immigrants,It is said that the ice operation will continue to arrest especially those who have a criminal record.
