Miscreants brutally killed an autorickshaw driver named Mehdi Hasan Asif (22) in Sreepur of Gazipur.
On Thursday (May 14) morning, his body was recovered from the agricultural land next to a Ghazari forest in Doaibari village, Rajabari union of the upazila. Son of Humayun Ahmed Zakir. Deceased Asif got married for the third time two years ago and has a 7-month-old daughter. He has been married twice before and both of his wives left him. Later he got married for the third time. This incident has cast a shadow of grief and fear in the area.
The deceased’s wife Meem Akhter said that Asif had left the house in an auto-rickshaw on Wednesday afternoon. He usually returned home by 10 pm. But last night he did not return on time and when the family members called him, the mobile phone was switched off. Inquiries were made at relatives’ houses. His dead body was found in Ghazari forest in the morning. Achma Begum, the mother of the deceased said, “After the Fajr Azan, someone left my son’s auto-rickshaw in a secluded place near the house. Ever since we saw the auto-rickshaw, our anxiety increased. Later in the morning, we found Asif’s frozen body lying with his throat cut in Bagarvita area.” I bought my son an autorickshaw with a loan of 1 lakh 10 thousand taka from the bank last 1 month ago.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station Mohammad Nashir Ahmad confirmed the truth of the incident and said,The young man was killed by slitting his throat with a sharp weapon. The matter is being looked at seriously as some articles used by women were found at the scene. Multiple teams of police have started working to unravel the mystery of the murder and identify those involved. The process of sending the body to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem is underway.
