Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said, “My efforts are continuing to ensure the development and civic services of Rajshahi. I want to work to fulfill the hopes and dreams of the city dwellers. Our goal is to make Rajshahi a more green, beautiful, healthy and peaceful city with the overall cooperation of everyone.”

He said these things in an exchange meeting with the leaders of Rajshahi Barendra Press Club at Sarit Dattagupta meeting room of Nagar Bhavan on Tuesday (May 12) afternoon.

In the meeting, the leaders of Varendra Press Club presented their proposals on various issues including city development, civic services, de-encroachment of footpaths and industrialization and employment.

Rasik Administrator listens to them attentively and assures to take necessary steps periodically.

In the exchange meeting, Rasik Administrator said, “Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Tariq Rahman has given me an opportunity to serve the people of the city. Currently, Rajshahi is being called as the city of flowers. I have ensured the care of the trees and regular water supply since I got the responsibility. A big plan has been taken to plant three lakh trees in the city in the next monsoon season. Besides, the city people will be provided with eco-friendly bags and bleaching powder on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.”

Regarding the increase in civic facilities, he also said that drain cleaning to eliminate waterlogging, fog spray to kill mosquitoes and road potholes are being identified and repaired. Various new schemes are being implemented to enhance the beauty of the city.

Referring to the success of healthcare. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said, “We have taken effective steps to prevent measles-rubella from the beginning. We were the first among the city corporations to create public awareness leaflets and distribute them door-to-door. As a result, we have been able to meet the 100% target for measles-rubella vaccination.”

In the meeting, Rasik Administrator sought the cooperation of media workers for the development of Rajshahi, and the leaders of Barendra Press Club expressed their full cooperation.

They said, it is possible to make this city beautiful only by working shoulder to shoulder.
