A police officer of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station has been accused of harassing senior journalist and organizer Sultan Mahmud by filing a false case. The incident has caused widespread discussion and criticism in the area.
According to the complaint, on May 5, 2026 at around 10 am in front of Jannat Mosque in Chashara Bagh, convicted accused Mannan Bhuiya tried to kidnap the plaintiff Alamgir with the intention of killing him. Later, the victim Alamgir filed a written complaint at the police station at 11 am.
After the complaint of the victim, SI Mansoor, who was in charge of the investigation, checked the matter and found the truth of the incident, but it was alleged that he neglected to accept the case. It is also alleged that during the progress of the case, he also took financial benefits from the victim and kept the matter hanging.
At that time, when the senior journalist contacted the OC and OC (Investigation) of Sultan Mahmud Police Station to resolve the matter, they hesitated to accept the case and at one point both parties were asked to accept the case, it is mentioned in the complaint.
Later, when the matter was discussed with the senior police officials, it is said that with the intervention of Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munshi and Additional Superintendent of Police Tarek Al Mehdi, they were ordered to take the case of the actual incident.
However, according to the complaint, SI Mansoor filed a different counter-complaint regarding financial benefits earlier and took up the case of the main incident later. It is being claimed that an attempt has been made to hide the case of the real victim.
It is further alleged that journalist Sultan Mahmood was accused in the case without any evidence, which is completely false and fabricated. It is also alleged that when SI Mansoor was called on the matter, he threatened to arrest the journalist and spoke indecent language, the evidence of which is claimed to be preserved.
