Hanging body of police SI recovered in Rangamati

The police recovered the hanging body of a police officer named Sajedul Haque from Tabalchari Post Office Colony area of Rangamati district town. The body was recovered from his rented house on Monday (June 1) around 1:15 am. Initially, the police believe that he committed suicide due to a family dispute.

The deceased Sajedul Haque was working as a Sub-Inspector (SI) at Rangamati Sadar Police Outpost. He lived with his wife and one child in a rented house in Tabalchari Post Office Colony.

According to local and police sources, Sajedul Haque had a heated argument with his wife Sajeda on Monday night. At one point he got angry and closed the door of his room. After getting no response for a long time and after repeatedly calling the door, his wife panicked and informed the police.

A team of Rangamati Kotwali police station reached the spot and broke the door of the room after receiving the information. The body of Sajedul Haque was found hanging there. Later, the body was sent to Rangamati General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

Immediately after the incident, Rangamati Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib visited the spot at night. At this time, Additional Superintendent of Police Iqbal Hossain and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Jasim Uddin was present.

Rangamati Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Raqib said, “It is initially confirmed that he committed suicide by hanging himself due to a family dispute. The body has been recovered and sent to the hospital. Further legal proceedings are underway in this regard.”Such a sudden death of a responsible police officer has left a shadow of grief among his colleagues and local residents.
