1665 people arrested in Sylhet police operation in one month

During the police operation in Sylhet, 1665 arrests were made in one month, during which a large amount of drugs and Indian illegal goods were recovered.
SMP’s traffic department has taken action against 3 thousand 551 vehicles in this operation for the whole month of May. Out of this, 1 thousand 6 hundred 92 cases have been filed against vehicles and 1 thousand 8 hundred 59 different types of vehicles have been seized.
According to SMP sources, a total of 1,665 people were arrested last month in various operations conducted by Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP). Among those arrested are 192 accused of regular cases, 42 robbers, 191 warrant accused, 99 drug addicts and drug dealers, 943 under Metro Ordinance, 56 thieves and robbers, 52 gamblers and 90 hawkers. At the same time, 183 regular cases have been registered in 6 police stations of the metropolis. Besides, 178 cases have been settled.
A large quantity of drugs was recovered during the operation. The recovered drugs include 911 pieces of Yaba pills, 41 bottles of foreign liquor, 20 liters of desi Keru liquor, 1 kg of ganja, 48 pure ganja and 7 ganja plants.
Besides, in the operation against smuggling and illegal products, 11 thousand 440 kg of Indian cumin, 450 kg of Indian sugar, 13 thousand 571 pieces of Indian chocolate, 10 thousand 332 pieces of Indian cream, 1 thousand 605 kg of illegal tea leaves, 480 pieces of Kio Carpin olive oil, 2 thousand 150 kg of Indian fuska, 924 pieces of Indian benzo, 600 pieces of chips, 7 thousand 600 pieces of torches, 3 thousand pieces of hydro bombs, 6 thousand 480 pieces of Kaviri henna, 147 kg of pustudana and 162 pieces of Indian blankets were recovered.
On the other hand, 16 lost mobile phones were recovered through the special efforts of SMP’s Intelligence Division (DB). Besides, the police said that 5 thousand rupees seized in the case of Bikash fraud has been recovered and returned to the victim.
