Sunamganj District Intelligence Branch (DB) police have arrested Jagannathpur Press Club Publicity and Publication Editor and Upazila Correspondent of Dainik Sakal Saam newspaper Aminur Rahman Jilu.

He was picked up from his professional office near the police station under the leadership of Sunamganj District Intelligence Branch (DB) Sub-Inspector Abdul Baten on Tuesday evening. Journalist Jilu’s family alleges that he was removed from his office in a filmy style without any investigation.

Jagannathpur Thana Police told local media workers that DB Police conducted this operation and arrested him in the wake of a case filed by Zahirul Islam Lal Mia, son of deceased Iskandar Ali of Jagannathpur village in Cyber ​​Tribunal.

Abdul Hakeem, uncle of journalist Aminul Haque Jilu, claimed that this arrest was completely motivated and conspiratorial, saying that my nephew has been doing journalism in the area for a long time with great honesty and objectivity. Recently Zahirul Islam made a news against Lal Mia for embezzling the settlement money of a raped woman. He has been arrested in a false case in a completely planned manner without any proper investigation in this incident. They are strongly protesting this injustice and demanding fair investigation and justice from the administration.

Meanwhile, when the news of the arrest of journalist Aminul Haque Jilu spread, there was intense anger and dissatisfaction among the local media workers. In a statement, the leaders of Jagannathpur Press Club strongly condemned and protested this incident and demanded his immediate unconditional release.

In the statement, the leaders said, this harassing case has been resorted to in a very planned way to suppress the voice of independent and objective journalism. Such removal of a working journalist from office without any proper investigation is very alarming and a big blow to independent media. If Aminul Haque does not immediately withdraw the framed case filed against Jilu and release him, the local journalist community will be forced to embark on a severe agitation.
