Minister of State inspecting the removal of garbage from the Asian Highway and planting program in Rupganj
In Golakandail area of Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj, sand filling and tree planting program has been implemented as a part of environment friendly initiative by removing the dirt piles that have been built for a long time along the Asian highway road. The program was visited by the Minister of State for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam. On Sunday (June 14) morning, after inspecting the garbage removal program at the Asian Highway road area in Golakandail, the State Minister participated in a tree planting program and planted tree saplings with his own hands. At this time, Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj) Constituency Member of Parliament Mustafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu, Upazila Executive Officer Saiful Islam, District Assistant Superintendent of Police were present. (C-Circle) Mehedi Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupganj Police Station HM Salauddin, local public representatives, officials of various government departments, political leaders, representatives of social organizations and dignitaries of the area. Local residents said that due to long-term dumping of garbage at that place, bad smell, mosquito infestation and environmental pollution were created. Pedestrians and nearby residents had to suffer due to this. According to them, the environmental risk of the area will be reduced by removing the garbage and the sand filling and planting of trees will play a positive role in enhancing the beauty of the road as well as protecting the environmental balance. The locals welcomed this initiative and said,The area will be transformed into a clean and green environment if regular supervision by concerned authorities continues.
