
Administration demolished six illegal brick kilns in Kalia upazila of Narail.
The Department of Environment has demolished six brick kilns set up illegally in Kalia Upazila of Narail. Chimneys, kilns and raw bricks of the brick kilns were demolished in a day-long operation on Tuesday (December 9). Besides, with the help of fire service, the fire was completely extinguished by sprinkling water.
Executive Magistrate Momtaz Begum of Department of Environment Khulna Divisional Office led the operation. The assistant director of Narail district office of Department of Environment was in charge. Abdul Malek Mia. District Police, Kalia Thana Police, Ansar VDP members and fire service members were present.
According to the sources, these six kilns were being operated illegally in Babupur Bazar, Banka-Juka, Patna and Baranal Bazar areas of Kalia Upazila.
Executive Magistrate Mumtaz Begum said,
“This campaign is to remedy the terrible damage that is being done to the environment by burning wood in brick kilns. Six illegal brick kilns have been demolished. Such operations will continue in the future.”
According to the Department of Environment, unregulated brick kiln environment,Threatening agricultural land and public health. Therefore strict action will be taken against all illegal brick kilns in the district.
