Jihad Sarkar Rana, the leader of the Volunteers’ Party, was arrested and handed over to the police on the charge of extortion while protesting the theft at the hospital in Badarganj, Rangpur. Yesterday Saturday (09,05,26) afternoon, the police arrested him from the hospital premises in the case of extortion and handed him over to the court.
It is known that Fatema, the ticket sales employee at the Upazila Health Complex, and her husband have been living in a residential quarter of the Upazila Health Complex, but according to the rules, she is not allowed to stay in the official quarters of the hospital. Meanwhile, after the renovation of the hospital by the government initiative, various useless furnitures were kept in the quarters of ticket employees Fatema. Two or three years ago, Fatema and her husband Mahafuz brought a truck from the hospital late at night and tried to sell various important papers along with useless furniture to the scrap dealer. In such a situation, some youths including the rana of the local BNP and volunteers attempted to seize the truck and hand it over to the police. Rana left the hospital with his party leaders and workers. The hospital authorities filed an extortion case against the ticket employee Fatema for covering up the theft and filed an extortion case against Ranar, the volunteer team leader. He went to meet the upazila health and family planning officer about the extortion case on Saturday afternoon, at one point he pressured the health officer to withdraw the case filed in his name at the police station. In such a situation, the team led by SI Vidyut Chandra arrested Rana from the hospital premises and brought him to the police station and handed him over to the court. Isha Habib, the uncle of Rana of the arrested volunteer group, said that my sister-in-law Rana was arrested today on charges of extortion while protesting theft in the hospital.He is not a big hospital doctor and work, a false extortion case has been filed to cover up the theft.
Some of the employees of the hospital said on condition of anonymity, Rana is a scoundrel and a man of bad nature but the incident of extortion is completely lied and fabricated, there is a strong syndicate of theft led by the ticket employee Fatema and her husband Mahafuzar Rahman in the hospital. Vidyut Chandra, the investigating officer of the case, said that on Friday night, hospital employee Fatema filed an extortion case in the name of Rana.The upazila health officer was arrested and handed over to the court today while pressuring him to withdraw the case. Upazila Health Officer Arefin Islam could not be reached on his mobile phone for his comment.
