Home Minister inaugurated Fire Service and Civil Defense Week 2026 Passing Out Parade and Medal Ceremony

Fire Service and Civil Defense Week-2026 has started across the country with the motto ‘Firefighters have only one stake, keep property and life safe’. Hon’ble Home Minister Mr. Salahuddin Ahmed, MP inaugurated the fire service and civil defense week, passing out parade and medal ceremony at the fire service and civil defense training ground located in the east of Narayanganj at 10 am. Mr. Manjur Morshed Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was present as a special guest on the occasion. Mr. Mostafizur Rahman, Honorable Member of Parliament of Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj) Constituency was present at the Bhuiyan Dipu event. Director General of the Directorate, Brigadier General Muhammad Zaheed Kamal, NDC, AFWC, PSC presided over the function.
When the Hon’ble Home Minister reached the Fire Service and Civil Defense Multipurpose Training Ground, Purbachal, Narayanganj at 10 am, he was welcomed by the Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defense. The Chief Guest inaugurated the Fire Service and Civil Defense Week-2026 by first blowing balloons and pigeons and cutting the cake as per the pre-arranged schedule. After that, when he entered the parade ground and ascended the greeting stage, the members of the 4 contingents including the flag bearer contingent led by the parade commander Mr. Faisalur Rahman gave him a respectful greeting. Hon’ble Chief Guest inspected the parade. After completing the basic training of station officers, fire fighters, drivers, divers and nursing attendants, PO cum Adjutant of the training complex Saidul Alam Chowdhury read their oath.
Four hundred medals to four hundred officers-employees selected for basic training after swearing-in and in recognition of gallantry to those officers of Fire Service and Civil Defense who-Employees awarded Rashtriya Padak Hon’ble Chief Guest presented medals to 20 of them. Then Director General of the Directorate Brigadier General Muhammad Zaheed Kamal gave a welcome speech. He thanked the honorable chief guest and special guest for attending the event. Thanking everyone present, he said, “I firmly believe that with the combined efforts of all, the fire service and civil defense will become more modern, efficient, humane and people-friendly institutions and will play a stronger role in ensuring the safety of the people of the country.”
After that, the special guest of the program, Mr. Manjur Morshed Chowdhury, honorable senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, gave a speech. He emphasizes on performing professional duties with honesty and devotion. He congratulated all concerned for successfully completing basic training.
In his speech to the firefighters, he said, “In accidents, you are the first to come to everyone’s side. You carry out your professional duties at the risk of life. Because of this, people think of you as friends in difficult times. I think, by continuing this line of work efforts, you will become more trusted by people.”
Then Hon’ble Home Minister Mr. Salahuddin Ahmed, MP delivered the chief guest speech. In his speech, he expressed the opinion that fire service has earned the trust of the nation through professionalism, courage, sacrifice and service activities in any disaster including fire. He said, “This ‘Freedom Awardee’ organization, which is the first to run to the side of people in danger in all disasters, is recognized as one of our proud forces.” Along with increasing the capacity, he also expressed his sincere desire to increase the facilities of the fire service officers and employees.
Finally the parade ended with a march past with the national anthem “Bangladesh Zindabad”. At the end of the parade, the honorable chief guest participated in the photo session with the contingent members. He then signed the inspection book. Finally he spoke to the media persons and answered their various questions.Heads of various organizations under the Ministry of Home Affairs, officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and various institutions under its purview, directors of the Fire Service, officers-employees of various ranks of public and private departments, volunteers, officers-employees of various ranks of the Fire Service and print, electronic and online media workers were present in the event.
Note that Fire Service and Civil Defense Week-On the occasion of 2026, along with the inauguration ceremony at the central level on May 19, various awareness programs have been undertaken across the country from May 20 to May 22.
