Human chain of the National Media Commission to protest the killing of Eamon Acharya in Sylhet, and demand for speedy trial

The Society of National Media Commission has held a human chain program in Sylhet to protest the killing of RAB member Eamon Acharya and to demand the speedy execution of the incident. This program was held on Wednesday (3 June 2026) at 12 noon by the organization’s Sylhet division, district and upazila branches.
Media workers, social workers, cultural personalities and leaders of various levels of the organization participated in the human bond organized under the supervision of the organization’s central organizing secretary and Sylhet divisional founder Kamal Khan.

The program was conducted by the organization’s former organizational secretary Zuber Ahmad Surjan of Sylhet district and the organization’s former general secretary Shahan Uddin Naju presided.
Liaquat Ali Khan, former editor-in-chief of National Weekly and DB News, was present as the chief guest at the human chain. Poet-literary writer and Labor Party Central Organizing Secretary Matiur Rahman Khan spoke as the main speaker. Apart from this, Kamal Khan, divisional founder and central organizing secretary of the organization, gave a special speech.
Various media workers, social and cultural personalities and district and departmental leaders of organizations also spoke on this occasion.
The speakers said that the death of RAB member Eamon Acharya while performing his duties is a very sad and worrying incident. They demanded a fair investigation into the incident, speedy prosecution of the culprits and adequate compensation to the families of the victims. At the same time, the demand for naming the place or the related place is also raised.

It is to be noted that on May 22, 2026, RAB tried to arrest a robber who had fled after being chased by the police in the area adjacent to Keen Bridge of Kotwali police station area of ​​Sylhet city.Eamon Acharya, a member of 9, was seriously injured in the stabbing. Later he was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
