Burichong policeman hacked and injured; Two women were arrested

Police have arrested two women in the case of seriously injuring a policeman while on duty in Comilla’s Burichong upazila. In this incident, a case has been registered against the names of four persons and two other unknown persons.

The arrested are Liza Akhter, wife of Iqbal Hossain and Shefali Begum, wife of Neyamul Kabir of Ramchandrapur village of the upazila.

According to police sources, a clash took place over a family dispute in Ramchandrapur Purpurpara area of ​​Burichong Upazila around 10 pm on Wednesday (June 3). A team of Debpur police outpost went to investigate after receiving the complaint and the call of National Emergency Service 999.

When the policemen reached the spot, some persons attacked them with sharp weapons. At one stage of the attack, the constable working at Devpur police outpost. Forkan was cut with a sharp weapon and seriously injured.

Later colleagues rescued him and admitted him to Comilla Medical College Hospital. When his physical condition deteriorated there, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment on Thursday morning.

After receiving information about the incident, additional police led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Burichong Police Station Lutfur Rahman reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

On Thursday afternoon, OC Lutfur Rahman said that the police went to the scene after receiving a 999 call regarding a family dispute and were attacked. In this incident, a case has been filed against two unidentified persons with the names of four persons on the charges of obstructing the work of the police and attempted murder.

He also said,Two women have been arrested so far. They were sent to Comilla court on Thursday. Police operations are continuing to arrest other accused in the case.
