Arrested with weapons in Rajshahi 2

A consignment of firearms and ammunition was being taken from Chapainawabganj border area for smuggling to Kushtia. On the basis of secret information, the police seized the shipment in Rajabarihat area of ​​Godagari upazila of Rajshahi. At this time, a woman and a person were arrested along with a private car.

A team of Prematali Police Investigation Center conducted the operation. Godagari Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Mirza Md. led the operation. Abdus Salam. At that time, the private car was searched and two foreign pistols, four magazines and 53 rounds were recovered.

The arrested are Dulal Sheikh (36), a resident of Battali Charmatha area of ​​Kushtia Sadar Upazila and Sanjida Akhter Shimu of the same area.

In-charge of Prematali Police Investigation Center SM Maksudur Rahman said that around 2 pm on Tuesday, information was received from a reliable source that a shipment of weapons left for Kushtia in a private car from Kansat area of ​​Chapainawabganj. After receiving the news, a check post was set up in Rajabarihat area of ​​Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway under the guidance of senior officials.

Shortly before 4pm, the suspected private car reached the check post and was stopped and searched. At one point, two pistols, four magazines and 53 rounds were recovered from inside the car. Later, two people in the car were arrested.

Police officer Maksudur Rahman also said,Attempts are being made to identify other members of the arms smuggling ring after interrogating the arrested persons. Preparations have been made to file a case under the Arms Act in this incident. After the proceedings of the case, they will be sent to jail through the court.
