
Defamation and death threat to journalist from fake ID on Facebook
Faridpur district. A journalist has been accused of making defamatory posts and death threats by opening a fake ID on social media Facebook.

A person in Manikganj area of Dhaka opened a Facebook ID using the name “Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh” and for a long time has been collecting pictures, information and news of various journalists, ordinary people and complaining journalists and their colleagues and publishing defamatory posts. Also threats are sent to the inbox from that ID at various times.
There is also a complaint, “Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh sent death threats and money demands to journalist Sajal Malo’s inbox from that ID. Later, when he and his journalist colleagues revealed the matter in the form of news, the person managing the ID changed the name of the ID to “Bangladesh Human Rights Commission” and added a new link https://www.facebook.com/share/1EMMfCQyFG/. However, even though the name and link have been changed, all the posts of the previous ID are known to exist in this changed ID. goes
Yesterday (May 28, 2026) journalist Sajal Malo Shubo Shubo suddenly demanded money from that Facebook ID and gave various conditions. He also alleged that he was threatened with death if the conditions were not complied with and the matter was reported to the police station.
Journalist Sajal Malo said that he is serving as the Faridpur district representative of the National Press Society (NPS), a media and human rights organization approved by the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Besides, he is also performing the duties of Faridpur district. As a journalist for a long time, he has been publishing objective news as Special Correspondent in Daily Agnishikha, Modern News, Faridpur District Bureau Chief, Bhanga Faridpur District Correspondent of Su-Prabhat Dhaka and other registered online and print media. He has also been certified multiple times through Bangladesh Press Council training.
he saidI strongly condemn and protest the way defamatory posts are being made about me from the Facebook ID named “Bangladesh Human Rights Commission” and money demands and death threats are being sent to my inbox.
In order to ensure the safety of his life, he demanded the relevant authorities of the Bangladesh government including the Faridpur district administration to quickly identify the person managing the Facebook ID and bring him under the law and ensure exemplary punishment.
At the same time, he said, according to the existing laws and constitution of the country, with the cooperation of the state and the government, it is necessary to ensure the environment so that he can fulfill the responsibility of publishing the truth as a journalist.
Finally, he drew the attention of all the citizens and media workers of the country and said that the way he was harassed today,Defamation and death threats—everyone needs to play a conscious role in this.
