Complaints of irregularities in the construction of Hnila-Moulvibazar connecting road, the anger of the locals

There have been complaints of widespread irregularities in the construction of roads connecting Rozar Ghona, Ali Akbar Para and Kambaniya Para of Moulvibazar Ward 1 of Hnila Union of Teknaf Upazila. There is anger and dissatisfaction among the locals over the use of sub-standard construction materials and non-delivery of prescribed quantities of materials.
The local residents complained that the development work of the road has started after a long time demand of the local people, but the officials of the contractor are not maintaining the quality in the construction work. They complained that low quality bricks, sand and other construction materials are being used for road work. Locals also claim that efforts are being made to complete the work quickly without using materials as per the design and allocation of the project.
Several residents, who did not want to be named, said the road has connected some important neighborhoods and settlements in the area. Therefore, there is a danger that the road will be damaged in a short time if the work is of poor quality. They alleged that due to the lack of quality control of the work, the contractor is carrying out the work at will.
According to locals, the main objective of the development project is to alleviate the suffering of the people, but irregularities and corruption have raised questions about the proper use of government funds. They sought the intervention of the concerned authorities for speedy verification of the quality of work and taking necessary measures.
The statement of the concerned contracting company was not received in this regard. However, the local residents claimed that the real situation will be clear if the project implementing agency and the local administration investigate and verify the truth of the complaint.
Residents also said that if strict monitoring is ensured at every stage of the construction work, it will be possible to prevent wastage of government money and build a sustainable and quality road.
Locals claimHe sought the cooperation of all concerned to inspect the transportation facilities of students and pregnant women and immediately inspect the project work to check the quality of construction materials and take necessary action against those involved in irregularities.
