50 feet trap of deer hunting seized, burnt and destroyed by forest department

The forest department has seized a huge quantity of deer hunting traps from the forest area of Bara Hetalmari canal area adjacent to the Andharmani eco-tourism center of Sundarbans.

The traps were recovered during routine patrolling today, Wednesday (June 3) around 11am.

Chandpai Forest Range Assistant Officer Mostakim Billah said, as per the instructions of Chandpai Range Officer Deepan Chandra Das, the forest guards were patrolling regularly on foot in the large Hetalmari Canal area of ​​Andharmanik Eco-Tourism Center this morning to prevent wildlife killing and illegal encroachment. During the patrolling, an approximately 50-feet-long deer hunting trap set up to catch poachers from deep in the forest was found abandoned.

Later these harmful wildlife hunting traps were brought to Chandpai Range Office and completely destroyed on the instructions of higher authorities. However, no poacher could be arrested in this incident. The poachers are believed to have fled deep into the forest on sensing the presence of the forest department.The concerned authorities said that this strict operation and regular patrolling of the forest department will continue for the protection of wildlife and Sundarbans.
