New record in container handling at NCT of Chittagong port

Chittagong Port’s Neumooring Container Terminal (NCT) has set a new record for maximum container handling in a single month. The terminal handled a total of 126,496 TEUs of containers in the month just ended, which is the highest in a single month in NCT’s history.
This success has been achieved under the supervision of the Port Management Board and the management of Chittagong Drydock Limited (CDDL), a company controlled by the Bangladesh Navy. According to related sources, an average of 4 thousand 81 TEUs containers have been handled in May.
According to the statistics, among the total containers handled in May, imports were 59 thousand 851 TEUs and exports were 66 thousand 645 TEUs.
Earlier in October 2025, the container handling record was 1 lakh 25 thousand 533 TEUs. A new milestone has been set by surpassing that record in May this year.
Sources said that after CDDL took over as the operator of NCT from July 7, 2025, the terminal’s operations have picked up pace. Responsible management at ship points, delivery points, appraise points, C&F sheds and entry-exit gates has made container unloading and loading operations faster.
