How can the country and nation change without changing the sick mentality

Md. Shahjahan Bashar

We are passing through such a strange time, where people are reveling in stories of outward development, but inwardly the society is moving towards destruction. City after city is filled with tall buildings, technology is improving, communication system is becoming modern, but is the mind and mentality of people really improving? This question has become the biggest question before the nation today.

Because the downfall of a nation never happens suddenly. Gradually human morality is destroyed, conscience is lost, truth is devalued, protest against injustice ceases—and then a society begins to rot from within. That horrible reality is visible in our society today.

Sick competition in today’s society has reached the point where people no longer compete to better themselves; Rather fights to bring others down. If someone does something good, instead of encouraging him, they try to demean him. Instead of being motivated by a man’s success, jealousy is born. Open the social media and see the artificial life display competition. More acting than reality, more popularity than humanity.

Today people do not hesitate to sacrifice morality to earn money. Fraud in business, unhealthy competition in education, corruption in employment, abuse of power in politics—all have at their root a sick mentality. We have created a society where honesty is often considered a weakness, and success through dishonest means is seen as a sign of cunning. It is this horrible mindset that is pushing the nation towards destruction today.

The family was once the greatest institution of moral education. Children learn humanity, compassion, respect and ideals from their parents. But in today’s busy age, many families are raising their children with consumerist mindset rather than humane education. As a result, they learn competition from childhood, but not empathy; Learning to win, but not learning to be human.

Today there is increasing unrest in the society. People are getting a little angry. Endurance is running low. Killings, skirmishes over petty issues,Incidents of revenge and violence are on the rise. Social degradation has reached such a point that people are now ready to sacrifice kinship, friendship and even humanity for self-interest. This is not just a social crisis; This is a terrible mental crisis.

We often talk about changing countries. We give big speeches on social media, criticize others, discuss various problems of the state. But do we ever look at ourselves? Do we ask ourselves – how honest am I? How human am I? Do I stand against injustice? Do I fulfill my responsibilities properly?

The reality is that society cannot change without individual change. Because society is made up of people, and if people become morally weak, then that society can never be healthy. A corrupt official, a dishonest businessman, an irresponsible teacher, a lying leader—they all sow the seeds of destruction within society. Again, an honest person, a humanitarian teacher, an ideal journalist, a just administrator—they can lead the society to the path of light.

Today’s young generation in particular is at greatest risk. They are growing up in a society where the pressure to succeed quickly is driving them away from morality. Lust for luxurious life, artificial popularity and money at a young age is pushing many of them down the wrong path. But the future of a nation depends on the thoughts of its youth. Therefore, it is necessary to inculcate moral education, patriotism, humanity and self-respect among the youth.

Journalism, education, politics, administration, business—every field now needs self-purification. It is not possible to change the society only by law. Because law can control man’s outward behavior, but cannot awaken man’s conscience. And mindless people can never bring real development.

Today our society needs humanitarian revolution the most. A change where people will not take pleasure in harming others; Where honesty, not deceit, would be a matter of honor; Where not power, justice will be the greatest power; Where not money, being human will be the biggest identity.

If we really want to change the country,So first we have to change ourselves. The practice of moral education should start from the family. Not only moral education, but humane education should be ensured in educational institutions. Religious and social values should be part of life. A brave stand must be taken against injustice. Good work should be evaluated in the society.

It should be remembered that a healthy society can never be formed with a sick mentality. To build a beautiful country, we need people with beautiful minds, healthy thoughts and moral values. Because the real development of the nation starts from the heart of people, from conscience, from humanity.

Today is the time for self-criticism. It’s time to change yourself. Because if the individual changes, the family will change, if the family changes, the society will change, and if the society changes, the future of the country and the nation will change.

Therefore, let us practice love not violence, honesty not deceit, humanity not selfishness, and healthy values not unhealthy competition. Then one day we are a beautiful,I will be able to build a humane and developed Bangladesh.
