
Ambulance in Chittagong is not a patient, 4 crore rupees was found

Police arrested two people while smuggling a large quantity of yaba using an ambulance in Kotwali area of Chittagong city. About 1 lakh 5 thousand pieces of yaba have been recovered, the market value of which is approximately Tk 4 crore.
They were arrested on Tuesday (May 5) afternoon in Patharghata area of Brickfield Road under Kotwali police station.
The arrested are – Shahidul Islam Khan Sagar (27) of Alipara area of Dohazari Municipality of Chandanish Upazila of Chittagong and his associate Md. Afsar (33).
According to police sources, the drug traffickers were transporting Yaba inside the gas cylinder of the ambulance in an ambulance (Chatt Metro-Ch 71-1265) from Cox’s Bazar to Chittagong. A search was conducted in the ambulance after receiving the tip-off. Meanwhile, a large amount of yaba was recovered from the custody of the people in the car. The raid was conducted by Patharghata Police Outpost Deputy Inspector (SI) Kazi Monirul Karim and members of Kotwali police station.

Aftab Uddin said that the police conducted the operation based on secret information that Yaba was being smuggled to Dhaka in an ambulance from Cox’s Bazar. At that time, when the ambulance was stopped and searched, 1 lakh 5 thousand Yaba tablets were recovered hidden inside the oxygen cylinder. OC Aftab Uddin also said,Preparations are underway to file a case under the Narcotics Control Act against the arrested and the investigation is continuing to identify others involved in the gang.
