Allegations of house attacks, vandalism and looting have been reported in North Malipathar Paschimpara area of Chithlia Union number 3 of Parashuram Upazila of Feni. The incident took place at Noor Ahmed’s house on the south side of the bridge adjacent to the bank of the Ceylonia river on Monday (May 4) at around 9 o’clock. The incident created a sensation in the area and panic spread among the locals.

According to local sources, the attack took place due to an earlier family dispute. In 2023, one of Rakib’s cousins came to visit their home, and while roaming around the village with another cousin, she was harassed and detained by some miscreants.

Later upazila convener Abdul Halim Manik settled the matter. The victims claimed that new tension has arisen due to the incident.
According to the complaint source, around 7 pm on Monday in Shaldhar Choumuhani area, TomTom driver Rakib was blocked by Nur Miar alias Nunu’s son Raju, Mustafa’s son Helal. They took the keys of Rakib’s TomTom and demanded to pay for tea and breakfast if he was to drive on the road. There was an argument between the two parties and later a fight.

At that time Rakib called his brother Alamgir and Russell and they also went to the spot. Later a man in the bazaar settled the matter and leaving the TomTom and the keys in his custody, Rakib and the brothers left for their father’s house. However, they were allegedly beaten up on the way.

The victim, Noor Ahmad, said that shortly after the incident, they received a call that 70 to 80 people were heading towards their house to attack. Later she moved to a safe place with her children. After some time miscreants attacked the house and ransacked and looted four houses.
he said
My son was asked for subscription. They beat him for not giving. Later in the night they stormed the house, vandalized the furniture and looted cash and jewellery. I want a fair trial of this incident.

Victim housewife Seema Akhter said,
suddenly 70-80 people entered the house and attacked. Nothing in the house was left intact. Even the small children are touched. My earrings, mobile and installment money were taken away. We pleaded with folded hands but they did not listen. I built a house with difficulty, everything was broken.

Alamgir complained and said that the incident showed the power of politics even though the family was far away
They asked my brother for breakfast. As he did not agree, we were attacked. But the way the houses were attacked later is unprecedented. My pregnant wife and small child were also beaten up. My old mother was doing namaz and many parts of her body were hit.

In this regard, Chithlia Union BNP President Jahangir said,
The incident is very unfortunate. We have discussed the matter with the local leaders, they have heard the matter and the administration has been asked to take necessary action in this regard.

However, the statements of the accused were not found in this incident. Locals demanded swift administrative intervention and legal action against the culprits.
