Chittagong Custom House at new address temporarily

The official activities of Chittagong Custom House are starting from July 1 at the World Trade Center in Agrabad of the city. Until the construction of the new building is completed, all the activities of the institution will be temporarily conducted from here.
It is known that the new building of Custom House is under construction with the financing of the World Bank. It has been decided to continue operations at the World Trade Center until that building is completed. The owner of the building is Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
An agreement was signed between the two parties in this regard on May 5 (Tuesday) at the conference hall of the World Trade Center in Agrabad. According to the agreement, Custom House will use 1,56,600 square feet of office space and 8,000 square feet of garage facilities at the World Trade Center.
On behalf of the Chamber, Administrator and Chittagong Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md. Motahar Hossain and Commissioner Mohammad Shafi Uddin signed the agreement on behalf of the Custom House.

According to Chamber sources, the country’s first and only World Trade Center is a member of the New York-based World Trade Center Association. The 24-storey international standard building with an area of about seven lakh square feet has all the modern facilities. It has 14 lifts, 250 car parking facilities in 3 basements and a helipad.Former presidents of the chamber, Engineer Ali Ahmed and Farid Ahmed Chowdhury, along with senior officials of customs and former leaders and officials of the chamber were also present in the event.
