
Main accused arrested from Gazipur for rape of housewife in Cantonment police station

The main accused Ujjal Miah (55) has been arrested from Gazipur in the case of Suppression of Women and Child Torture Act filed at Rajdhani’s Cantonment Police Station. He was arrested in a special operation this afternoon.
According to the statement of the case, the victim Tanjida Jinnat (28) lives in a building in Matikata area of Cantonment area. Accused Ujjal Mia is the husband of the victim’s elder uncle and a yarn trader in Gazipur. The victim’s husband is a longtime expatriate and had business and land dealings with the accused.
According to the complaint, the accused had been threatening the victim several times on the basis of a promissory note document and a check of Rs 73 lakhs related to the land. At one point, the victim was forced to sign a Kabinnama under pressure and death threats from the accused. Later, with the help of that Kabinnama and various blackmails, the accused had been forcibly raping the victim against her will for the last few years.
It is mentioned in the affidavit that on 28/04/2026 at around 4 pm, the accused entered the house of the victim’s husband and raped her again in the absence of her husband. Unable to bear the continuous torture of the accused, the victim informed her husband about the matter and after discussing with the family filed a case in Cantonment Police Station on 06/05/2026.
After the case was filed, Cantonment Police started action. Ujjal Miah was arrested in Gazipur area this afternoon after identifying the location of the accused with the help of information technology.
Cantonment police sources informed that preparations are underway to hand over the accused to the court in due legal process. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
