
In the operation of 11 BGB in Naikshyongchari, huge yaba worth more than 3 crores was recovered

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has achieved great success in the anti-narcotics operation in Naikxyongchari upazila bordering Bandarban. 1 lakh 841 pieces of Burmese Yaba were recovered without owners in a special operation of Jaruliachhari BOP under Naikshyongchari Battalion (11 BGB), whose estimated market value is Tk 3 crore 2 lakh 52 thousand 300.
According to BGB sources, on Friday (June 5) around 7:30 am, 11 BGB captain Lieutenant Colonel Md. Under the overall direction of Faizul Kabir, a special patrol team of Jaruliachhari BOP conducted operations in the border area of Poaban. The operation, which was conducted on the basis of intelligence, identified suspicious movements inside Bangladesh near border pillar 46/4-S.
Sensing the presence of the BGB during the operation, the smugglers dropped the two bags they were carrying and quickly fled into the nearby hilly forest. Later, two bags left at the scene were searched and a large amount of yaba was recovered.
There were 99 thousand 780 pieces of brown colored yaba and 1 thousand 61 pieces of green colored yaba. In all, the number of Yaba recovered is 1 lakh 841 pieces. According to BGB, the estimated market value of these Yaba is more than 3 crores.
BGB said that the recovered drugs will be handed over to the concerned authorities after the necessary legal process. However, it was not possible to arrest anyone involved in drug trafficking during the operation. Intelligence activities are continuing to identify and arrest the fugitive smugglers.
Captain Lt. Col. Faizul Kabir said,
“BGB is conducting regular operations to ensure the security of the country’s borders, prevent smuggling and human trafficking, control illegal infiltration, recover illegal weapons and prevent drug trafficking. BGB is in a very strict position in the light of the ‘zero tolerance’ policy announced by the government against drugs.”
He also said,”BGB’s surveillance and patrol activities have been strengthened to prevent drug and other illegal activities in the border areas. Such operations will continue in the future for the security and public interest of the country.
